Cupcakes
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a small bowl.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
- Divide batter evenly among the prepared muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.
- Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cupcakes cool in the muffin tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Vanilla Buttercream
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating until smooth.
- Beat in the vanilla extract.
- Add milk or cream one tablespoon at a time until desired consistency is reached.
- Once cupcakes are completely cool, frost them with the vanilla buttercream.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of almond extract to the buttercream. Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for the best results.
