Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce
- Whisk together soy sauce, mirin, sake, brown sugar, grated ginger, and minced garlic in a bowl. In a separate small bowl, combine cornstarch with water to create a slurry and set aside.
Cook the Beef and Broccoli
- Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef sirloin and cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes. Add the broccoli florets to the skillet and cook for another 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp.
Combine and Serve
- Pour the prepared teriyaki sauce into the skillet with the beef and broccoli. Bring to a simmer, then stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens. Serve immediately over cooked white rice, garnished with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate the beef in a tablespoon of the teriyaki sauce for 15-30 minutes before cooking. Adjust the sweetness of the sauce to your preference by adding more or less brown sugar.
