  1. Combine cranberries, sugar, and water or orange juice in a medium saucepan.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until cranberries burst and sauce thickens.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool completely; the sauce will thicken further as it cools.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon or orange zest during cooking. This sauce can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
