- In a small saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and 1 cup of cold water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar completely dissolves, then remove from heat.
- Pour the sugar syrup into a large pitcher. Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice and the remaining 3 cups of cold water.
- Stir well to combine all ingredients. Taste and adjust sweetness if desired, then chill thoroughly before serving.
- Serve over ice with lemon slices or mint sprigs for garnish, if desired.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can add a few slices of ginger or a sprig of fresh mint to the pitcher while chilling. This lemonade can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
