Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 5 large flour tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded cheese Cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a blend
  • 2 butter or oil for cooking
Optional Fillings
  • 1 cup cooked chicken, shredded
  • 0.5 cup diced bell peppers
  • 0.25 cup sliced onions
  • 0.5 cup black beans, rinsed and drained

  • large non-stick skillet or griddle
  • spatula

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Heat a large non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a small amount of butter or oil.
Cooking
  1. Place one tortilla in the skillet and sprinkle half a cup of shredded cheese over one half of the tortilla.
  2. If desired, add a small amount of your chosen optional fillings on top of the cheese.
  3. Once the cheese begins to melt and the bottom of the tortilla is golden brown, fold the other half of the tortilla over the filling.
  4. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until both sides are golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
  5. Remove the quesadilla from the skillet, cut into wedges, and repeat the process for the remaining tortillas and fillings.

Notes

Serve immediately with your favorite toppings like salsa, guacamole, or sour cream.
