Preparation
- Insert a wooden skewer or popsicle stick into the stem end of each apple, pushing it about halfway through.
Making the Caramel
- Melt the unwrapped caramels with milk or cream in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.
- Alternatively, melt the caramels in a double boiler over medium heat, stirring until creamy.
Dipping the Apples
- Carefully dip each apple into the melted caramel, rotating to coat evenly.
- Scrape any excess caramel off the bottom of the apple before placing it on parchment paper.
Cooling and Setting
- Allow the caramel apples to cool and set completely on parchment paper at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
- Optionally, add your favorite toppings like chopped nuts or sprinkles while the caramel is still tacky.
Notes
For best results, make sure your apples are completely dry before dipping them in caramel. This helps the caramel adhere better. You can also experiment with different toppings like chocolate drizzle, sprinkles, or crushed cookies for variety.
