Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 6 wooden or metal skewers
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 0.5 tsp paprika
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper

Equipment

  • Grill
  • Medium bowl
  • Whisk
  • Skewers (wooden or metal)

Method

Preparation
  1. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, paprika, salt, and black pepper to create the marinade.
  3. Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the bowl, tossing to ensure they are evenly coated with the marinade.
  4. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 30 minutes, to allow the flavors to meld.
Grilling
  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Thread the marinated shrimp onto the soaked skewers, typically 4-5 shrimp per skewer.
  3. Place the shrimp skewers on the preheated grill and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.
  4. Remove the grilled shrimp skewers from the grill and serve immediately.

Notes

For an extra kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the marinade. You can also add bell peppers or cherry tomatoes to the skewers for a more colorful presentation.
