Ingredients

Coleslaw
  • 4 cups green cabbage shredded
  • 2 cups carrots grated
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Equipment

  • large bowl
  • medium bowl
  • whisk

Method

Coleslaw
  1. In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage and grated carrots. Set aside.
  2. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  3. Pour the dressing over the cabbage and carrot mixture, then toss well to ensure everything is evenly coated.
  4. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld. This step also helps the cabbage soften slightly, enhancing the texture.

Notes

For a healthier option, you can substitute some of the mayonnaise with Greek yogurt. Add a pinch of celery seeds for extra flavor. Coleslaw tastes even better if made a few hours in advance, allowing the flavors to fully develop.
