Bake the Cake
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9x13 inch baking pan by greasing and flouring it. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.

Prepare and Soak

- Slowly pour the milk mixture over the cake, ensuring it is evenly distributed. Let the cake soak for at least 30 minutes, or preferably several hours in the refrigerator.
Whip and Serve
- In a cold bowl, beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form. Spread the whipped cream over the soaked cake.
- Slice and serve chilled. Garnish with fresh fruit or a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired.
