Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Baking
  1. Bake for 9-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still soft.
  2. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra chewiness, underbake the cookies slightly. You can substitute milk chocolate chips for dark chocolate chips, or add nuts for varied texture.
